Great Rhino Megaways has six reels and a variable numbers of rows. The maximum number of rows that can appear on any reel is seven on the first and sixth reels, and eight on the second, third, fourth and fifth reels. The top row from the second to fifth reels spins independent of all others in a left to right direction.

As those of you who are familiar with the Megaways mechanic will already know, the number of rows in play varies from spin to spin, but if all reels are maximised you will enjoy an incredible 200,704 ways to win. Compare that with the 20 pay lines offered by the original title and it is clear that this Great Rhino game is in a completely different league.

Symbols and Audio

As in the original game, Great Rhino Megaways takes place against a background that gives you a great view of the African Savannah. Most of the symbols which appear on the reels were also present in the previous title, but there have been a couple of minor changes. The lower-value symbols are the playing card ranks of 10, J, Q, K and A (the original didn’t include the 10) and the higher-value symbols are a flamingo, a hyena, a crocodile, a gorilla (which wasn’t in the original) and a cheetah.

And where is the Great Rhino himself, we hear you ask? Well, he is still here, but he now serves as a wild symbol, and appears exclusively on the top row of the second, third, fourth and fifth reels. A golden coin symbol showing the head of the rhino in profile serves as a scatter, and appears on all of the reels.

A musical soundtrack which evokes the feeling of being on safari in Africa plays whenever you spin the reels, but if you pause for a little while the music will gradually fade out and you will hear only the natural sounds of the setting portrayed, including birdsong and the chattering of hyenas. Incidental audio effects are a tad more ‘Vegas’ in style, and when you win more than a modest amount you will be treated to a celebratory fanfare.

Tumble Feature

This is a tumbling game, so when you land a winning combination of symbols, those symbols will be removed and remaining symbols will drop down to fill their vacated spaces. New symbols will then drop into place, giving you another chance to achieve one or more winning combinations, and the tumbling feature will continue until no new wins are achieved.

Free Spins Feature

Great Rhino Megaways has a special Free Spins feature which can be triggered by getting four of the golden coin symbols on the reels at the same time. In this part of the game, every tumble will increase a win multiplier by one, but before you begin, you will be given a choice between four different Free Spins modes.
